General FAQ's

Why is it cheaper to enter the three events separately rather than entering the Full Long Course Weekend?

If you enter the three events separately, you will receive a finisher's medal for each event (3 medals total). If you commit to the Full Long Course Weekend, You will receive not only the finisher's medals for the three separate events, but also the official LCW finishers T-shirt and Goodie Bag as well as the coveted fourth medal (if you finish all distances within the cut-off). not only this, but you will also get the opportunity to be a part of the awe-inspiring LCW fourth medal ceremony.

How Do I know i'm entered?

You Should receive an Email confirmation; this can sometimes end up in your spam folder so don't forget to check there. If you're certain you haven't received a confirmation email, Don't worry! You can log into your Active account here and see all the events you've entered with us over the year. If You can't see your entries, email us at info@lcwmallorca.com

Is there a kids event?

Yes. The minimum age of entry is 18 years old except: 12 years: 5km Run 14 years: 1500 meters and 750 meters Swim 16 years: 10km Run

When is the closing date for registration?

Providing it doesn't sell out, the closing date for registration will be as close as possible to the event. This Date will be published closer to the time however it is likely to be 2 weeks prior to the event.

Can someone else pick up my start number?

Yes, but they must show all the documents to accredite they are doing it on your behalf and bring a copy of your confirmed registration. Remember that if you have registered as Balearic resident this has to be validated at the race number pick up, if not you will have to pay the difference to regular starting fees in cash.

When is the race info sent out?

Absolutely everything you need to know about the Long Course Weekend Mallorca will be sent out in our Race Guide document, usually around two weeks before the event. This will include event timings, race details, ... It is important you read this as details may be different to those on the website. We recommend using the online Race Guide as a guide, as an email will be sent to the address you registered with notifying you of final details and possible amendments.

Is it mandatory to participate with the timing chip?

Yes, it is, for security reasons and in order to register your time. The Timing chip is included in the registration fee and you will get it when collecting the race number.

Is there a race briefing?

What is the cancellation insurance for?

If you get that during the online registration process allows you to cancel or transfer your entry at any time for any reason up to 60 days prior to the event.

Changes & Withdrawals

I am not able to race. What are my options?

For full information on our withdrawal/cancellation policy please see our terms and conditions. If you took out cancellations insurance when you registered, you can get a full refund up to 60 days prior to the vent. Once we are within 60 days of the event, we cannot offer refunds/deferrals. Additionally, places are non-transferrable at any point.

Can I transfer/defer my entry?

Places are absolutely non-transferable at any point. If you are unable to race for whatever reason, please email and let us know.

Can I change my distance?

For individual disciplines entries: Until September 30 (included): distance changes in the same discipline (for example from 3.8k to 1.9k in swimming) allowed. The original registration fee will not be refunded and in the event that the new distance price is higher at that time at the price paid when making the original registration, the corresponding difference will be charged. For Long Course Weekend entries: Until September 30 (included): The original registration fee will not be refunded unless you have bought the cancellation insurance during the registration process. In the event that the price of the new distance (s) is higher at that time at the price paid when the original Long Course registration was made, the difference will be charged.

Where do I have to be and when?

Where do I put my race number?

For the bike section of the course, the number must be worn on the REAR, as well as the bike number being placed on the seat post, and the sticker upon the helmet. For the run, the number must be worn on the FRONT.

Where do I put the timing chip?

The Timing Chip is a small plastic transponder that has to be fastened on your ankle or shoe (no metal contact!).

Will there be a wardrobe service?

Yes, during the 3 days.

What is the prize structure?

The best 3 men and women of the overall results of Long Course Weekend and the best 3 men and women of the overall results of each discipline (Swim, Bike, Run) and for each distance. All finishers in each discipline and distance will receive a medal. The Long Course Weekend distance participants finishing the 3 disciplines will receive as well the 4th medal.

The Swim

What can I wear?

Wetsuit –Unless otherwise notified by the Event Organiser during the Race Briefing on Friday, swimming wetsuits are mandatory for open water with water temperature under 15,9ºC. Between 15,9ºC and 20ºC, it will be optional for distances of 750 and 1500 meters and up to 22ºC for distances of 1900 and 3800 meters. Above these temperatures, the use of wetsuit is prohibited. It is the Participant’s responsibility to provide and use a wetsuit which complies with FETRI rules and regulations. Participants without a wetsuit will not be allowed to compete. Link to FETRI rules Goggles – goggles are necessary for all open water swims. Polarised goggles are recommended to reduce glare and increase visual acuity. It may be worth bringing a clear-lensed pair if conditions are less than ideal. Swim hat – the swim hat issued by Long Course Weekend and provided at the race number pick up must be worn. If you wish to wear two swim hats, the issued swim hate MUST be worn on top. Timing chip – Timing chip must be worn on the OUTSIDE of the wetsuit on the left ankle. Gloves & Boots CANNOT BE WORN without a doctor’s note. Webbed gloves are not permitted.

Is the water safe to swim?

Swim course takes place in the Bay of Alcudia, so it´s very safe. Water temperature in November is 20ºC average and between 2-6 meters deep.

What are the start times?

Please check the Race Guide for all start times.

Is there a cut off?

Yes. 12:30h Cut-off time to complete the distance of 750 meters. Participants of 1.500 meters who have not completed the first lap at that time, cannot start the second one. 13:00h: Cut-off time to complete the distance of 1.500 meters. 10:10h: Cut-off time to complete the distance of 1.900 meters. Participants of 3.800 meters who have not completed the first lap at that time, cannot start the second one. 11:20h: Cut-off time to complete the distance of 3.800 meters.

The Bike

What can I wear?

Race Number must be worn on the bike seatpost and sticker on the front of the helmet.A Helmet MUST be worn. Approved cycling safety helmets must be worn by competitors. Helmet must be used in all activities when the competitor rides the bike: competition, familiarization and training sessions; (full details of helmet requirements here in the FETRI regulations) The torso MUST be covered at all times. Headphones are strictly prohibited. Due to adverse weather in 2018, all cycle jackets became mandatory for that day. If you are travelling it would be advisable to pack a jacket just in case.

Will the roads be closed for the bike course?

Yes, no traffic allowed during the race. The security will be controlled by Police and Organization.

What are the start times?

Please refer to the event guide for all start times.

How is the start organised?

At 8:30h for 172km and at 12:15h 86km participants.

How many aid stations will there be?

3 aid stations each loop. 2 of them with solid and liquid. 1 liquid aid station. To see locations check the bike map.

Is there a cut off?

There is an intermediate cut off for 172km participants at 12:00h at Km86 (end of the first loop). Final cut off is at 16h.

What type of bike can I use?

It is the Participant’s responsibility to provide and use a bicycle and helmet following the rules and regulations of the FETRI. For safety reasons, only conventional road bikes with brakes on both wheels (disc brakes permitted) and without tri bars (no crono bikes are allowed).

Will drafting be allowed?

Yes.

The Run

What can I wear?

Race Number MUST be worn on the FRONT. The chip is glued to the back of the race number, so you should not do anything, just place the race number in the front with the safety pins on the race day. As is a disposable chip, you should not return it at the end of the race. Torso MUST be covered at all times. We highly recommend wearing proper running shoes that have been correctly fitted to avoid discomfort during the run. We also recommend not wearing brand new trainers on race day as they will need to be worn-in to maximise comfort. Running socks will reduce rub and aid both shock absorption & circulation. They are generally fast drying and odour repellent. We recommend merino wool or polyamide socks.

Is the course flat?

Yes.

Is there a cut off?

Yes. The cut-off for the Marathon is at 15:00h. The cut-off for the Half Marathon is at 12:00h.
